SHORT COURSES ON TRAJECTORY OPTIMIZATION

I offer short courses on trajectory optimization as a paid service. The courses are generally offered in one-day, two-day, or three-day format.

TYPICAL ONE-DAY COURSE TOPICS

  • Introduction to Calculus of Variations
  • Optimal Control Theory Using Calculus of Variations
  • Pontryagin's Minimum Principle
  • Singular Arcs
  • Indirect Numerical Methods: Shooting Methods and Collocation Methods
  • Direct Numerical Methods: Shooting Methods, Collocation Methods, and a Brief Introduction to Orthogonal Collocation Methods

TYPICAL TWO-DAY COURSE TOPICS

  • Day 1: One-Day Course Topics
  • Day 2: Focus on Computational Methods for Optimal Control
    • Introduction to Nonlinear Optimization and Nonlinear Programming
    • Extensive Methodology Development of Orthogonal Collocation Methods
    • Synthesis of Computational Framework for Optimal Control
    • Examples of Setting Up and Solving Optimal Control Problems Using Orthogonal Collocation

The three-day adds the following topics to the two-day course:

  • DAY 1: Day 1 Course Topics
  • DAY 2: Day 2 Course Topics
  • DAY 3: Focus on Optimal Control Software GPOPS-II Tutorial and Training
    • Overview of Optimal Control Software GPOPS-II
    • Details of Setting Up an Optimal Control Problem Using GPOPS-II
    • Array of Examples Using GPOPS-II

The durations and costs of the one-day, two-day and three-day courses are as follows:

  • One-Day Course: 6 Hours (3 morning and 3 afternoon hours): $16000.00
  • Two-day Course: 12 Hours (3 morning and 3 afternoon hours each day): $26,000
  • Three-day Course: 18 Hours (3 morning and 3 afternoon hours each day): $36,000.00

All courses are inclusive of travel costs, lodging, per diem, and can include an unlimited number of participants at the site.
